I can’t believe it’s already April, and at the same time, it has been one long year. The silver lining here, because there always is one, is that our Autism journey continues to progress in the most beautiful and positive way, one year later. The past year has been crazy, but fun! It has been filled with lots of family time, zero work travel, more puzzles, more family meals, more bike riding, more hikes, more pool time, more beach time, and we are now so grateful for every get together and every outing. We have learned to appreciate the little things. Like birthday parties, movie theaters, restaurants, zoos – we miss them, and if we have been able to get into one of them, it’s been like a brand new cherished experience. This has been even more true for a family with autism. Some of these outings are just the healing atmosphere that we thrive in.
For families with autism, sometimes it is ALL about the little victories. This past year has been about connection. and about health. We are so grateful for both. This year, when we wear our blue, we are raising awareness for our autism community as always, but we are celebrating our little victories this year as well. Every year April is a time of reflection for us, and a time to look forward. I love that at this time of year, we start feeling the warmth of the sun and we spend more time outside. It’s a time of new life, as we look around and see the buds on the trees and plants around us, knowing the beauty that awaits us just around the corner. It’s up to us to take it in and appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Jenna Jorge
