October is synonymous with fall, Halloween, pumpkins, and Breast Cancer Awareness. The Goodman team takes Breast Cancer Awareness month very seriously, as several of us have been directly impacted by breast cancer or lost loved ones, like many of you. The cause is close to our hearts and we weave it into the fabric of our company culture when and where we can. While we are orange all year, October we go pink in honor of survivors and warriors.
This year we are taking a slightly different approach recognizing and celebrating survivors of breast cancer, and those who have suffered severe medical trauma as a result of other devastating diseases. We are lucky that we get to work with one of the most inspiring women in the industry, Robyn Benincasa. After suffering her own medical setback, Robyn created the Project Athena Foundation. Her mission now is to empower every survivor she encounters to realize that It’s not about the setback, it’s about the comeback! The Athena Project focuses on survivors helping survivors achieve their dreams. Robyn is more than an incredible athlete, bestselling author, CNN Hero, powerhouse mainstager, but she also is a life-changer. That’s a hero in our eyes!! She makes an impact wherever she goes and inspires everyone around her.
Visit Robyn’s page to learn more about her remarkable mission, feel free to contact us if you have questions, and most importantly take a moment to visit projectathena.org to see the amazing adventurous dreams and trails being blazed by survivors for survivors.
PS…the backpack you see in the photo are past Athena’s who didn’t make it, they lost their battles, so Robyn brings them with her on each adventure after their gone.
