Our AHA! Moment. Every business starts with a story and this is ours: In the late 1970’s, a smart, 27-year old recently divorced mother of three—who was actively involved in her local community and in the women’s movement—set out to produce a lecture series. This of course, was before the internet, and Diane Goodman, though persistent, was unable to find a central source for speakers. (In those days, meeting and event producers typed and mailed query letters to speakers, but that’s another story).
Ahead of Our Time. Diane Goodman posited if she had a need for a centralized speaker resource, then others might too. To test her theory, Diane designed a survey, bought a list of 5,000 names, and did a mailing. Within days, Diane’s mailbox filled with requests for motivational speakers, economists, journalists, industry experts, and more. The need for a central source for speakers was validated.
Born of Prescience & Passion. Goodman Speakers Bureau opened its doors in 1979, becoming one of the first 12 speakers bureaus in the country. Today, Goodman Speakers is a thriving boutique national speakers bureau, respected by the meeting industry, and deeply trusted by its clients and speakers.
