DeeDee Trotter is a three-time Olympian in the sport of track and field. DeeDee has claimed three Olympic medals over the course of her career, two gold medals in the 4 x 400-meter relay, and a bronze medal in the 400-meter individual event. In addition to her Olympic success, DeeDee is an NCAA champion, SEC champion, regional champion, and record holder during her years at the University of Tennessee. As a result of her collegiate success, DeeDee became the first female athlete in any sport to turn professional before completing four years of sports eligibility.
Now retired, DeeDee's 13 years as a professional track and field athlete has given her a tremendous story. In 2008 a devastating knee injury should have ended her career. While this injury knocked her from the very top to the bottom, Deedee learned how to transform failure, loss, fear, and doubt into power and use it to create a winning formula that allowed her to reach her greatest success, not only in sports, but in life.
