Shyla High Profile
Dr. Shyla T. High is a leading Dallas-based Cardiologist who is respected globally as "The Heart Health Expert for Women". As such, she`s an in-demand Speaker, frequent media guest, and author of the highly acclaimed book published in 2013, Why Most Women Die – How Women Can Fight Their #1 Killer: Heart Disease.
As an expert in her field, Dr. High`s mission is to not only educate women on how to prevent heart disease, but to also educate the Media, mainstream society, and the healthcare industry about the fact that women are now dying from cardiovascular disease more than from all forms of cancer combined…however less than 10% of women even know it`s now their #1 health threat.
This unfortunate lack of awareness and education has prompted experts such as Dr. Paul Grayburn, Associate Editor of the American Journal of Cardiology, and a practicing Cardiologist with 25-years of experience, to share this about Dr. High, her book, and her mission: "Women are different than men. There are hormonal differences, even differences in symptoms. Yet there`s this tendency, even by the medical community, to want to treat men and women the same when it comes to heart disease. Consequently, there are very few books focused solely on female heart health. Therefore, Dr. High`s exceptional book (and charter) definitely fills an extremely important education gap."
In addition to her on-going women`s heart health advocacy through speaking engagements, writings, and media interviews, Dr. High has maintained her private practice since 1998 as a non-invasive Cardiologist with Cardiology Consultants of Texas, where she focuses on heart disease in women and non-invasive testing. She is board certified in cardiovascular disease, fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and licensed by the State of Texas.
It is based on Dr. High`s passion, expertise, and commitment to women`s heart health awareness that has led to her: being named a "Texas Super Doctor" by Texas Monthly magazine; being interviewed regularly by countless media nationally; and being a sought after Speaker.
