Jane Bryant Quinn is a nationally known commentator on personal finance, with books and columns read and trusted by millions. In her long career, she has established herself as America's most reliable voice for people trying to manage their money well. In her public policy writings, she addresses matters of top concern to everyone, including investor protection, health insurance, Social Security and the future of retirement accounts.
She currently writes a column every month for the AARP Monthly Bulletin and AARP.com on issues affecting people in mid-life and retirement. Her newest book, How to Make Your Money Last: The Indispensable Retirement Guide, was published in January 2016, by Simon & Schuster. She posts on her own website and on Twitter @JaneBryantQuinn.
Jane is also a digital news entrepreneur. In 2010, she co-founded DailyVoice.com, which brings local news to communities, online. So far, the company covers 76 communities in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Jane serves as Editorial Director and is a member of the board of directors.
Her career includes one the country's most successful newspaper columns, published twice-weekly and syndicated by The Washington Post Writers Group to more than 250 newspapers. She wrote a biweekly column for Newsweek magazine for 30 years. She has also written a biweekly column for Bloomberg.com and long-running monthly columns for Woman's Day and Good Housekeeping magazines.
Jane's best-selling book, Making the Most of Your Money, is a comprehensive guide to personal finance, named by Consumers Union as the best personal finance book on the market. The first edition, published in 1991, has been in print ever since. The third edition -- Making the Most of Your Money NOW -- was published in January, 2009. Her book, Smart and Simple Financial Strategies for Busy People, offers her personal list of the best, low-cost ideas for managing money (she uses them herself!).
Jane has worked extensively in television. She co-hosted an investment series, "Beyond Wall Street," which ran on the Public Broadcasting System. PBS also ran her own program, a personal-finance series called "Take Charge!" She worked 10 years for CBS News, first on the "CBS Morning News," appearing twice weekly, then on "The Evening News with Dan Rather."
She is a frequent speaker for business, civic, and educational groups, discussing the current state of the economy and what it means for managing money.
Jane has many awards to her credit, including the Emmy Award and Janus Award for outstanding coverage of news on television and the Gerald Loeb award for distinguished lifetime achievement in business and financial journalism. She has also received many honorary degrees.
Jane is married and has two children and six stepchildren. She was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y. and lives in New York City.
